Forensic Marker
Microscopic markers embedded within the physical structure of a fibre or polymer provide a permanent and unalterable record of provenance. The introduction of molecular taggants at the source of production allows brands to verify that the organic cotton or recycled polyester they purchased is actually present in the final garment. These substances are inert and invisible to the naked eye, ensuring they do not affect the hand feel or dyeing properties of the textile.
Origin Verification
Lab technicians use specialized scanners or chemical reagents to detect the unique signature of the marker within a finished fabric sample. Because molecular taggants are distributed at the molecular level, they cannot be removed by washing or chemical bleaching. This technology provides a bridge between the digital blockchain record and the physical reality of the goods in the warehouse.
Supply Authentication
Blending cheaper, non certified fibres into a premium batch is a common form of fraud that these markers are designed to stop. When molecular taggants show a lower concentration than expected, it indicates that the mill diluted the certified material with a generic alternative. Retailers use this data to audit their supply chains and enforce environmental claims regarding material content.
Detection Limit
Trace amounts of the marker can be identified even after the fibre has been recycled multiple times.
