Extraction Apparatus
Automated equipment for the rapid removal of soluble matter from solid samples improves the efficiency of laboratory analysis. The soxtec system utilizes a boiling solvent and a rinsing stage to isolate fats and industrial oils from textile fibers. Rapid extraction represents an alternative to the traditional Soxhlet method, reducing the time required from several hours to under sixty minutes.
Operational Mode
Samples are placed in thimbles and submerged in boiling solvent to dissolve the majority of the extractables. During the soxtec system cycle, the solvent is then evaporated and condensed to rinse the sample, ensuring total recovery of the soluble substances. The two-stage process uses less solvent than older methods, making it more cost-effective.
Precision is the goal.
Analytical Precision
High reproducibility allows for the accurate measurement of finish-on-fiber levels in synthetic yarn production. The soxtec system provides the data needed to adjust the application of lubricants during the spinning process. Recovered solids are weighed to four decimal places to ensure the final percentage is correct.
Mill Integration
Quality control labs in fiber plants use this hardware to monitor production lots in real time. It ensures that the yarn has enough lubrication for downstream processing without causing dyeing problems.
