Surface Dispersion
Surface-active molecules stabilize the suspension of immiscible liquids to form uniform chemical blends for industrial applications. In the finishing of knitted fabrics, emulsifiers prevent the separation of silicone softening oils from the aqueous bath during padding operations. This stabilization ensures that the active lubricant distributes evenly across the yarn structure to deliver a uniform hand feel.
Bath Stability
Mechanical agitation during processing can force incompatible compounds to coalesce. Added emulsifiers lower the interfacial tension between the oil and water, preventing spotting defects. Homogeneity remains stable during long runs.
Processing Hazard
Excessive concentration of these dispersing agents can weaken the affinity of the softener for the fibers. If the formulation uses too many emulsifiers, the chemical compounds remain suspended in the wash water instead of binding to the yarn. This results in poor wash durability of the soft finish.
Technical Verification
Laboratory staff evaluate the performance of these additives by measuring the cloud point and emulsion stability of the finishing bath. They run centrifuge tests on the prepared dilutions to ensure that the emulsifiers resist separation under high shear forces. These quality checkpoints protect against spotting defects that would require stripping and re-processing the finished fabric.
