Heating Equipment
High-efficiency heating elements generate infrared radiation that matches the water absorption spectrum while allowing rapid heat adjustment. Industrial dryers utilize fast-response medium wave emitters to dry wet fabrics without the risk of scorching during sudden line stoppages. These devices reach their operating temperature in seconds and cool down just as quickly.
System Mechanism
The filament operates at a temperature that produces electromagnetic waves in the range of two to four micrometres. Since water molecules absorb energy most efficiently at these wavelengths, the radiation converts directly to heat within the wet coating of the fabric. During line decelerations, the power supply shuts off instantly, preventing the residual thermal energy from damaging the static fabric.
This rapid modulation prevents the over-drying that can cause dye migration or fibre degradation.
Operational Control
Integrating the power control system with the line drive motor ensures that the heat output scales with fabric speed. Pyrometers monitor the surface temperature of the textile to adjust the voltage supplied to the fast-response medium wave emitters. Technicians position the arrays at a set distance from the fabric path to optimize energy transfer.
Maintaining the quartz tubes free of dust prevents uneven heating across the fabric width.
Process Constraint
Large electrical power demand makes these systems expensive to run continuously compared to direct-fired gas burners. The fragile quartz glass housings require careful mounting to withstand the mechanical vibrations of a textile mill.
