Performance Rating
Standardised pressure tests evaluate the purity and processability of polymer melts used in the production of synthetic filaments. The filter blockage index measures the rate at which the pressure increases across a fine mesh as a specific volume of molten material passes through. A low index value confirms that the polymer is free of contaminants and is suitable for high-speed extrusion into fine denier yarns.
Particle Detection
Microscopic impurities or cross-linked polymer gels that are too small for visual inspection are captured by the test filter. As these particles accumulate, the resulting rise in pressure provides a quantitative measure of the total contaminant load. Mills rely on this index to decide if a batch of recycled polymer chips meets the requirements for spinning into high-tenacity industrial fabrics.
Equipment Longevity
Excessive pressure buildup within the machinery leads to increased wear on pumps and necessitates frequent stops for cleaning. Monitoring the filter blockage index allows production managers to schedule maintenance before a total blockage occurs in the production line. High index readings often suggest that the pre-filtration stages or the raw material quality require immediate adjustment.
Quality Threshold
Raw material acceptance is determined by the gating result in the manufacturing of high-performance technical textiles.
