Sensor Mechanism
Electronic strain gauges measure the mechanical force exerted by a running strand as it passes over a designated sensing roller. This measurement system uses a load cell tensiometer to convert the physical deflection of the sensor head into an electrical voltage signal. The resulting value represents the precise instantaneous tension in the running threadline.
This signal is processed by a digital controller to provide real-time monitoring of winding and warping operations.
Measurement Performance
Fast response times are necessary to capture transient tension spikes that occur during high-speed processing. Low-inertia rollers prevent the sensor itself from altering the threadline dynamics or introducing artificial friction during the test. Digital filtering of the output signal isolates the true yarn tension from machine vibrations.
This calibration preserves data integrity across different operating speeds.
Industrial Application
Continuous monitoring prevents yarn damage during warping.
System Maintenance
Regular recalibration using known deadweight standards ensures the accuracy of the electronic measurements over extended production cycles. Dust, lint accumulation and finish residue on the sensing elements can introduce drift and reduce sensitivity if left unmanaged. Technicians clean the sensor rollers and verify the zero-point adjustment before initiating each new yarn batch.
Reliable measurements protect the downstream knitting quality.
