Sizing Agent
Synthetic polymer compounds applied to warp yarns during the sizing process improve mechanical resistance during yarn interlacing. In textile mills, polyacrylamide lubricants form a smooth protective film that reduces friction between yarn and loom components. This prevents warp breakages under high-speed operation.
Looming Efficiency
Fabric manufacturers rely on these polymers to process fine or low-twist yarns that are prone to shedding. Applying polyacrylamide lubricants increases the tensile strength of the yarn bundle. This results in fewer loom stops and higher looming room productivity.
Viscosity Mechanism
Sizing bath preparation involves dissolving the polymer in warm water to create a uniform coating paste. When the warp sheet passes through this bath, the lubricant penetrates the outer yarn layer and binds loose fibres to the core. This action creates a smooth outer surface that resists the rubbing action of the reed and heald wires during the fabric formation cycle.
The concentration of the polymer is adjusted based on the loom speed and yarn count. This adjustment ensures that the protective barrier is thick enough to resist mechanical wear but thin enough to be easily washed out later.
Desizing Removal
Wet processing finishes require the complete removal of these chemical agents to ensure uniform dyeing. If any residue remains, it blocks dye molecules from reaching the core of the fibre. Effective hot-water washing during the pre-treatment stage prevents this problem.
