Security Mechanism
Physical device or material application designed to reveal any unauthorized attempt to open or modify a container or package. Implementation of a tamper-evident seal provides a visible and irreversible record of interference through fracturing or colour change. This feature is essential for maintaining the chain of custody for high-value textiles or sterile medical supplies during transit.
Visual Indicator
Deliberate structural weakness is engineered into the material so that it breaks or deforms when tension is applied. If a tamper-evident seal is peeled back, it often leaves a residue that displays a word such as void or opened on the surface of the package. This visual evidence allows inspectors to quickly identify compromised shipments without needing specialized electronic tools.
Some versions use heat-shrink films that cannot be restored to their original shape once they are cut. Fraudulent attempts to reseal the package are hindered by the unique holographic patterns or serial numbers printed on the film.
Adhesive Integrity
Bond strength is calibrated to be stronger than the backing material to ensure the seal fails before the adhesive releases. The glue must function across a range of surfaces including corrugated cardboard and plastic film.
Environmental Limit
Performance is affected by extreme temperatures or oily surfaces that might prevent proper adhesion. A tamper-evident seal is a deterrent rather than a physical barrier against theft.
