Placement Technique
Method of layering fabric onto a cutting table without inducing any longitudinal pull or stress on the web. Proper tensionless spreading ensures that pattern pieces cut from the textile do not shrink when they finally relax on the work bench. The equipment typically uses a belt system or cradle to unwind the roll at a speed exactly matching the travel of the carriage.
Stability Impact
Avoiding drag during tensionless spreading protects the integrity of sensitive jersey knits and lightweight stretch wovens. When the material sits in a relaxed state it maintains its engineered density and width. Fabric allowed to rest for several hours after this process shows the least amount of variation during assembly.
Mechanical Sync
Sensors inside the spreader drive the tensionless spreading function by constantly calculating the diameter of the roll. As the roll gets smaller, the motor speed increases to keep the feed rate constant. This precision avoids common errors like edge wavering or fabric bunching.
Cutting Accuracy
Maintaining zero tension during the lay up phase guarantees the fit of the finished apparel item. Pieces cut from stretched fabric eventually crawl back to a shorter length and cause fit failures. Success requires zero pull.
