Measurement Method
Direct flow measurement instruments use the physical properties of inertia to determine the mass of liquids passing through a pipeline. In textile wet processing, coriolis sensors measure the mass of dye and chemical auxiliary feeds directly rather than estimating it from volumetric flow. This device uses a vibrating tube that experiences a twisting force proportional to the mass of the moving liquid.
Flow Calculation
The physical twist of the internal conduit creates a phase shift between the motion of the inlet and outlet sides. Software within coriolis sensors translates this phase shift into an accurate mass flow rate. Because mass is unaffected by temperature fluctuations or pressure variations, this measurement remains highly reliable under changing factory floor conditions.
Monitoring the resonant frequency of the tube allows the same sensor to simultaneously determine the density of the fluid, providing two distinct analytical metrics from a single measurement point.
Process Integration
In-line integration with automatic dosing systems allows for real-time adjustment of finish chemicals. Coriolis sensors provide the continuous feedback loop required to maintain exact chemical concentration in finishing baths. This automation reduces the manual monitoring required of the operator and limits chemical waste.
Operating Boundary
Entrained air or heavy particulate matter in the chemical line can disrupt the vibration of the measurement tube. Therefore, coriolis sensors require proper installation downstream of de-aeration systems to prevent measurement drift. Ensuring a steady flow without air pockets maintains the calibrated accuracy of the system over extended production shifts.
