Viscosity Monitor
Continuous measurement devices track the flow characteristics of polymer melts or finishing liquids directly within the production pipe. An inline rheometer provides real-time data on the resistance of the fluid to deformation without requiring a separate sample extraction. This instrument allows for immediate adjustments to the heat or chemical composition during the coating process.
Immediate feedback prevents batch failure.
Torque Measurement
Sensors detect the force required to rotate a spindle or move a piston through the moving medium.
Production Integration
Mounting these units directly onto the extruder or the mixing tank reduces the lag time between a change in material properties and the corrective action. Because the inline rheometer operates at the actual process temperature and pressure, the results reflect the true state of the bulk material. Consistent molecular weight distribution is easier to maintain with this setup.
Weaving efficiency improves when the sizing agents are applied with the correct thickness.
Mechanical Constraint
The sensor must withstand high shear environments while remaining sensitive to subtle changes in fluid behavior. An inline rheometer often requires a bypass loop or a specific pipe diameter to ensure the flow remains laminar during the test. Particulate matter in the slurry can cause wear on the sensing surfaces.
Temperature fluctuations in the environment must be compensated by the software to avoid skewed readings.
