Metallic Cylinder
Electroformed cylindrical sleeve made of high-purity metal functions as the primary carrier for rotary screen printing pastes in high-volume textile factories. A nickel mesh screen features a precise pattern of open hexagonal cells that regulate the passage of print formulation onto the moving fabric web. This component must resist high squeegee pressures and constant bending during long production shifts.
Its structural stability and uniform thickness are essential for achieving consistent color transfer across the entire width of the fabric.
Mesh Density
The number of holes per linear inch determines the mesh rating of the printing cylinder. High mesh counts such as one hundred and twenty-five or one hundred and fifty are used for fine detail and sharp outlines on lightweight fabrics. Lower counts allow the deposition of high-viscosity pastes on heavy textiles.
Lacquer Application
Engraving begins with the application of a uniform layer of photosensitive polymer lacquer to the screen exterior. Photochemical or laser systems then create open areas where the paste can flow through the metal mesh during the printing cycle. This coating must be fully cured to prevent premature breakdown during production.
Paste Release
Squeegee blades press the print paste through the open mesh as the cylinder rolls across the moving fabric. Proper adjustment of squeegee angle and pressure prevents pattern distortion and ensures even color penetration. Regular cleaning and inspection extend the operating life of these precision screens.
