Impulse Jetting
Precision liquid ejection mechanism utilizes piezoelectric crystals to generate fluid droplets only when required by the digital textile pattern. A drop-on-demand piezo printhead applies an electrical pulse to deform a chamber wall, squeezing out a single ink droplet through a microscopic nozzle. This mechanical method provides precise control over drop volume and placement during high-speed printing on various fabric structures.
It maintains high nozzle density to achieve fine pattern resolution without heating the ink chemistry.
Deflection Dynamics
Sub-microsecond physical deformation of the piezo ceramic element creates a pressure wave inside the ink channel. This pressure wave pushes the meniscus outward until surface tension breaks to release a discrete drop. This process requires stable voltage control to ensure that each droplet has identical mass and velocity.
Fluid Performance
Viscosity and surface tension of the textile ink must match the specific operating limits of the head to prevent nozzle clogging or satellite drop formation. High shear forces within the channel can degrade sensitive polymeric colorants if the fluid properties are incorrect. Printhead manufacturers supply precise viscosity charts to guide the ink formulation process.
Pattern Fidelity
Electronic control of droplet size allows the printhead to produce complex multi-tone images and smooth color gradients. This capability is critical for printing photorealistic patterns on apparel fabrics. Variable droplet technology improves the overall sharpness of fine printed details.
