Mechanical Component
Cylindrical part in an open end spinning machine performs the initial separation of fiber tufts into individual filaments. High speed rotation of the opening roller allows teeth or pins to comb the fiber feed against a stationary plate. This action removes heavy impurities through a trash discharge port before the fibers enter the transport tube.
Particle Separation
Centrifugal force generated by the spinning cylinder flings dirt, leaf particles and seed coat fragments out of the fiber stream. The design of the roller surface, whether using saw-tooth wire or needle pins, is chosen based on the type of fiber being processed. Proper maintenance of the teeth is required to prevent fiber damage and ensure effective cleaning.
Fiber Transport
Airflow within the opening chamber carries the separated filaments from the roller to the spinning rotor. This movement must be smooth and continuous to avoid the formation of clusters or knots. Efficiency of the opening roller directly affects the strength and uniformity of the resulting rotor yarn.
Speed Setting
Operating limits are defined by the balance between cleaning intensity and fiber breakage. If the roller spins too fast, the filaments may be shortened by the aggressive mechanical action. Technicians adjust the rotational speed to match the trash content of the raw material and the desired quality of the finished product.
