Cleaning Auxiliary
Additive formulations increase the grease-cutting efficiency of dry cleaning fluids and aqueous scouring baths. A solvent booster works by lowering the surface tension of the liquid, allowing it to penetrate the interstices of the yarn more effectively to release trapped soils. This is particularly useful for removing heavy mineral oils or waxes used during the spinning process.
Use of these boosters reduces the total time required for the cleaning cycle and lowers the energy consumption of the plant.
Solubilization Power
Enhancing the ability of the primary solvent to hold dissolved soils prevents the redeposition of dirt back onto the fabric. The booster acts as a bridge between the solvent and the contaminants, especially when dealing with stubborn synthetic greases. This ensures a higher degree of whiteness or brightness in the finished garment.
Emulsification Capacity
Dispersion of insoluble particles into the cleaning liquor is facilitated by the surfactant components of the booster. Even in non-aqueous systems, these additives help to suspend solid particulates so they can be filtered out. High capacity for emulsification prevents the formation of tide marks or rings on the fabric surface.
Fabric Safety
Compatibility with delicate fibres like silk or wool is a requirement for any industrial additive. While the booster must be powerful enough to remove oils, it cannot strip the natural protective waxes from animal fibres. Testing on a small sample ensures that the chemical does not cause shrinkage or color bleeding during the bulk wash.
