Load Setting
Uniform fabric winding and processing require systematic verification of the electronic sensors that measure web tension. Implementation of a tension calibration protocol establishes the mechanical and electrical baseline for all automated speed adjustments on the production line. This procedure uses known weights suspended from a strap to simulate the force exerted by the fabric.
Technicians perform this task before starting a new production run to avoid tension errors. The control system records the signal corresponding to each weight step to build a calibration curve.
Static Weighting
Hanging precise test weights from the center of the calibration strap ensures that the load cells on both sides of the roller are balanced. This step checks for any unequal distribution of force caused by mounting misalignment. The values from the left and right sensors must match within a specified tolerance percentage.
Equal loading prevents fabric skewing and uneven edge tension.
Signal Alignment
Entering the physical weight values into the digital controller scales the analog voltage output to engineering units like Newtons or kilograms. The controller uses this scale to adjust the motor torque dynamically during winding. This adjustment maintains consistent tension throughout the roll.
Operational Verification
Running a short trial batch after the adjustment confirms that the system maintains tension under dynamic conditions. The controller logs any deviations from the setpoint during start and stop phases. This guarantees high roll quality.
