Dilute Solution
Chemical mixture of water and organic solvent that accumulates after the washing stages of regenerated cellulose fiber spinning represents the starting point of the recovery loop. This weak liquor contains a low concentration of amine oxide or sodium sulfate and must be concentrated before it can be reused in the dissolving process. This liquid is characterized by its high volume and low viscosity.
Recycled Flow
Separation processes are used to concentrate the dissolved chemicals and return them to the dope preparation area. If the weak liquor is not properly managed, it overloads the evaporation system and increases the energy demand of the entire fiber production facility. Effective storage and pre-concentration steps are required to balance the fluid flow.
Plant Efficiency
Continuous monitoring of solvent concentration is essential to avoid system overloads. Processing weak liquor through multi-stage evaporation loops reduces thermal costs and secures solvent-recovery targets.
Processing Protocol
Conductivity and density measurements are performed inline to monitor the concentration of the wash streams and guide the flow direction. The weak liquor is filtered to remove cellulose microfibers and other suspended contaminants that could foul the heat-exchanger tubes of the evaporators. This continuous filtration and monitoring process ensures that the recovered solvent can be recycled safely without damaging downstream equipment.
