Mathematical Formula
Mathematical formulas calculate the overall standard moisture regain of a yarn or fabric made from a blend of different fibers. Textile calculators use the weighted regain equation to combine the individual moisture regain percentages of each fiber according to their weight proportions in the blend. This composite value is necessary for calculating the commercial weight of blended textile shipments.
Composite Calculation
Composite calculation multiplies the percentage of each fiber type by its standard moisture regain rate and divides the sum by one hundred. For example, a blend of sixty percent cotton with a regain of eight and a half percent and forty percent polyester with a regain of zero point four percent has a combined regain of five point two six percent. This composite regain percentage is used to determine the correct commercial weight of the blended fabric.
Commercial Weight
Trade invoices use this combined percentage to adjust the dry weight of the shipment. This calculation prevents disputes by establishing a clear moisture standard for blended textile shipments.
Valuation Standard
Buyers and sellers use this mathematical approach to ensure that the transaction value reflects the true weight of the fiber blend. These calculations are documented on the shipping papers to verify compliance with international trade standards.
