Removal Process
Automated extraction systems identify and eject foreign matter from raw cotton during the opening and cleaning stages. Blowroom contamination removal utilizes high speed sensors to detect non lint materials such as polypropylene, hair, jute and plastic film before they reach the carding engine. This process prevents the fragmentation of contaminants into smaller particles that would be impossible to remove once spun into yarn.
Sorting Mechanism
Optical sensors or ultrasonic detectors trigger a burst of compressed air to divert identified impurities into a waste collection chamber. Modern blowroom contamination removal systems distinguish between white polypropylene and raw cotton by using polarized light or ultraviolet illumination. Reliability depends on the air pressure settings and the distance between the sensor and the ejection valve.
Integration Point
Integration occurs after the initial bale opening but before the final cleaning point to maximize the exposure of individual tufts. Because blowroom contamination removal works on loose material, it handles the highest volume of bulk fibre in the spinning line. The efficiency of this stage determines the grade of the final yarn and the frequency of yarn breaks in downstream weaving or knitting.
Performance Threshold
Detection rates drop when the fibre density is too high. Efficiency is measured by the remaining contaminant count.
