Sampling Process
The extraction of representative material from compressed textile bales employs a hollow tube driven by pressurized air to cut through the packed fibres. This technique, called pneumatic core sampling, is the standard method for obtaining wool or cotton samples from high-density packages without opening them. By penetrating deep into the bale, the tool gathers fibres from all layers to prevent biased results.
The collected samples are then routed to testing laboratories for yield and grease analysis.
Machine Operation
Operators position the heavy bale beneath the sampling rig and activate the drive mechanism. The pneumatic core sampling machine forces the sharp, rotating tube through the bale casing and into the packed wool. Once the tube retracts, the core of fibres is automatically blown into a collection bag.
This action must be done quickly to prevent the friction of the tube from heating and damaging the fleece.
Core Analysis
Laboratory results obtained from these core samples determine the clean wool yield of the entire shipment. If the sample indicates a high moisture or dirt content, the buyer adjusts the final payout to the seller.
Industrial Yield
Using automated core extractors reduces the physical labor required for manual coring and increases the sampling rate. This allows warehouses to process hundreds of incoming shipments every day.
