Dosing Device
Positive displacement pumps consisting of a single-helix rotor and a double-helix stator deliver a continuous, pulse-free flow of highly viscous chemicals. The progressive cavity dosing pump is used in textile finishing to feed concentrated dyes and thick printing pastes to the application units. It provides a flow rate that is directly proportional to its rotational speed, allowing precise volumetric control.
This pump handles shear-sensitive liquids without causing degradation.
Pumping Mechanism
Rotation of the steel rotor within the elastomeric stator creates a series of sealed cavities that move from the suction to the discharge end. In this way, the progressive cavity dosing pump progresses the liquid smoothly without any pulsation, which is essential for maintaining a uniform chemical application on the fabric. The design allows the pump to handle abrasive suspended solids, such as pigment dispersions, with minimal wear.
This longevity reduces maintenance costs.
System Integration
Automated dye kitchens use these pumps to meter stock solutions into the mixing manifold of the continuous dyeing line. The progressive cavity dosing pump is connected to variable speed drives that receive commands from the central process computer. If the fabric speed increases, the pump speed rises instantly to maintain the correct chemical ratio.
This responsiveness is critical for avoiding head-to-tail shade variations.
Operational Limit
Running the pump without liquid causes intense friction between the rotor and stator, which destroys the elastomeric seal. The pump must never be operated dry.
