Surface Modification
Machine settings define the specific conditions required to burn off loose fibres and fuzz from the surface of a yarn or fabric. Production supervisors adjust singeing parameters such as gas pressure, flame intensity, burner distance and line speed to achieve the desired surface finish. These variables determine the effectiveness of the thermal treatment without compromising the tensile strength of the material.
Energy Regulation
Fabric moisture content and the distance between the burner and the cloth are primary factors in the setup. If the singeing parameters are too aggressive, the fabric may suffer from thermal degradation or a harsh hand feel. Insufficient heat leaves the surface hairy, which interferes with the clarity of subsequent printing or the smoothness of the finished garment.
Fabric Interaction
Optimization of the process requires a balance between the speed of the line and the energy of the flame. When singeing parameters are correctly calibrated, the protruding fibres are vaporized instantly while the base fabric remains below its damage threshold.
Output Consistency
Inspection of the singed cloth occurs under grazing light to check for remaining pilling or unevenness. Changes in singeing parameters are recorded in the batch log to ensure reproducibility in future orders.
