Blend Balance
The relative proportion of regenerated cellulosic and synthetic fibres in a blended yarn determines both the moisture absorption and durability of the finished textile. Calculating the viscose polyester ratio is necessary for controlling the fabric’s physical performance and chemical processing behavior during dyehouse finishing. This balance is typically expressed as a percentage by weight, such as a sixty-five thirty-five blend.
Material Property
A higher viscose content increases the fabric’s breathability and moisture regain, making it comfortable for daily wear. Conversely, a higher polyester content improves the tensile strength and dimensional stability of the garment during commercial laundering. Mill technicians adjust this ratio in the spinning room to meet the specific requirements of the target market, whether for high-performance activewear or everyday office clothing.
Dyehouse Processing
Determining the blend ratio is also essential for calculating the correct amount of dyestuff and chemical auxiliaries needed in the dye bath. Because viscose reacts with reactive dyes and polyester requires disperse dyes, an incorrect ratio estimate will lead to uneven coloration or wasted chemical inputs. Laboratories perform quantitative extraction tests using sodium hydroxide or formic acid to confirm the exact blend percentages before starting bulk dye runs.
Quality Inspection
Buyers verify the blend ratio through third-party laboratory audits of the finished fabric. Discrepancies exceeding the standard tolerance can result in shipment rejection.
