Process Regulation
A mechanical system maintains the pulling force on a running yarn or fabric web at a constant pre-set level. Implementing line tension control prevents structural deformation and stretching during winding and chemical treatment. It is essential for high-speed continuous textile operations.
Feedback Mechanism
Load cells or dancing rollers measure the real-time tension and send a signal to the drive controller. The controller adjusts the speed of the motor-driven rolls to correct any deviations from the setpoint. This constant correction compensates for changes in roll diameter as the fabric builds up.
Yarn Protection
Excessive tension can cause permanent elongation and thin spots in synthetic yarns. Conversely, low tension leads to sagging and causes the fabric to wrinkle or run off-center. Proper regulation avoids these defects by keeping the running line under a steady force.
Fabric Uniformity
Finishing mills rely on this system to ensure uniform chemical pick-up and dyeing results. When the line tension control works properly, the fabric dwell time in the padder and the dryer remains constant. This consistency produces a finished fabric with uniform width and weight across the entire production run, which prevents shading and stretching defects that would otherwise result in garment panels of mismatched sizes.
