Force Transducer
Industrial force transducer used to monitor the pull of a fabric web as it travels through a production line. A load cell tension sensor converts the physical pressure of the fabric on a roller into an electrical signal for the machine drive system. This feedback allows for real-time adjustments to the motor speeds.
Signal Accuracy
Calibration must be performed regularly to ensure the millivolt output matches the actual kilograms of force applied. Environmental factors such as heat or vibration can cause the load cell tension sensor to drift over time. Technicians use dead weights to verify the reading at multiple points across the expected operating range.
Strain Gauge
Strain gauges inside the housing measure the slight deformation of the metal under the weight and pull of the web. As the load cell tension sensor detects changes in the web tension, it sends a voltage to the controller to speed up or slow down the following rollers. This closed-loop system prevents the fabric from stretching or breaking during high-speed transitions.
Roller Geometry
Mounting position relative to the web path is the primary factor in the sensitivity of the measurement. Because the load cell tension sensor only measures the resultant force, the angle at which the fabric wraps around the roller must remain constant. If the entry or exit angles change, the sensor will report an incorrect tension value regardless of the actual load on the fabric.
