Electromechanical Action
Electromechanical actions convert an electrical signal into the rapid opening or closing of a pneumatic port. In textile sorting, solenoid valve actuation drives the precise burst of air that knocks a contaminant out of the fiber stream.
Timing Precision
Latency between the detection of a defect and the physical movement of the valve must be kept to a minimum. Efficient solenoid valve actuation occurs within a few milliseconds to ensure the air pulse hits the debris exactly as it passes the nozzle. Any delay results in the air hitting clean fiber or missing the target entirely.
Durability Requirement
Sorting machines in a spinning mill may require millions of cycles per day. High-performance solenoid valve actuation relies on materials that resist wear and heat buildup during continuous operation. Failure of a single valve leads to a blind spot in the sorting width, allowing contaminants to pass into the final product, which reduces the overall grade of the bale.
Air Consumption
The volume of compressed air used depends on the duration of the pulse. Shortening the solenoid valve actuation time reduces the energy costs of the mill. Modern controllers vary the duration based on the size of the detected object, using only the air needed to clear the path.
