Dimensional Accuracy
Tension control systems regulate the physical length of fabric passing through the finishing machine. Stenter overfeed calibration aligns the mechanical speed of the entry feed rolls against the chain speed of the tenter frame to ensure the material enters the drying zone without unwanted longitudinal strain. The resulting percentage difference between these two velocities dictates the final shrinkage properties of the finished goods.
Functional Geometry
Correct settings allow the textile to remain slack during the thermal fixing process to prevent fiber distortion. Operators adjust the variable speed drives while the fabric travels across the pinning zone to match the set width of the clip or pin track. Incorrect values induce bowing or skewing in the weave pattern because the tension profiles across the width of the cloth become inconsistent.
Mechanical Variance
Deviations arise when the internal sensors tracking roller rotation lose synchronization with the primary drive motors. High heat conditions inside the oven cabinet fluctuate the electrical resistance of control cabling which changes the input signals received by the programmable logic controllers. Mechanical wear on the gears driving the overfeed rollers also introduces a slip factor that prevents the requested speed from occurring at the material contact point.
Production Outcome
Stable settings maintain the handle and drape of high performance technical fabrics during long production runs. Verification happens through the manual measurement of residual stretch against reference patterns cut before the finishing stage. Consistency in this alignment defines the reliability of the fabric dimensions delivered to the apparel manufacturer.
