Crown Correction
Mechanical rollers used in high-pressure finishing padders tend to bend under force, which creates uneven squeezing along the width of the fabric. Compensating for swimming roll deflection relies on an internal oil chamber that applies counter-pressure to the inside of the roller shell. This mechanism maintains a straight nip line across the entire face of the roll.
Pressure Compensation
Traditional solid rollers must be physically crowned to match a specific operating pressure, but they bend incorrectly if that pressure changes. Dynamic control of the swimming roll deflection enables the machine to adjust to different fabric widths and squeeze forces during active production. By changing the internal hydraulic pressure, the system ensures that the squeezing force remains uniform even when the total load is adjusted, which prevents center-to-edge variation in moisture levels.
Finishing Consistency
Even liquid extraction across the fabric width prevents color variation in continuous dyeing lines. If swimming roll deflection is not correctly managed, the center of the fabric remains wetter than the edges, which causes shaded dyeings and uneven drying times in the stenter. This variation is eliminated when the internal support system balances the external load.
Hydraulic Regulation
Precise control of the internal oil pressure is maintained by automatic control systems connected to the main pressure lines. This adjustment resolves the swimming roll deflection by matching the internal hydraulic force to the pneumatic pressure applied to the roller journals. Correct calibration of this pressure ratio prevents roll wear and extends the service life of the rubber covers.
