Assembly Framework
A structural support system designed to hold several yarn beams simultaneously for the purpose of feeding a sizing or warping machine. Deployment of a multi beam creel occurs when the total number of ends required for a loom beam exceeds the capacity of a single supply package. This configuration allows for the combining of thousands of individual strands into a single uniform sheet.
Alignment Operation
Precision in the positioning of each beam ensures that the yarn paths do not cross or tangle. In a multi beam creel, the beams are often stacked vertically or arranged in a staggered horizontal row. Braking systems on each beam position must be synchronized to provide consistent let off tension as the beam diameters decrease during the run.
Tension Control
Load cells or dancer rollers monitor the pull of the yarn sheet as it enters the size box. Adjustments in a multi beam creel are made to the individual pneumatic or mechanical brakes to prevent some beams from overrunning while others are under tension. If one beam stops faster than the others during an emergency halt, the resulting slack can cause knots or lost ends.
Operational Capacity
The physical footprint of the unit dictates the maximum number of beams that can be processed at once. Heavy duty versions of the multi beam creel are required for denim production where large volumes of indigo dyed yarns are combined. Proper maintenance of the bearings and brake linings is necessary to ensure that the yarn sheet remains flat and free of vibration at high operating speeds.
Mechanical failure is costly.
