Fixation Method
Continuous thermal fixation applies and fixes disperse dyes on synthetic fibres without using pressurized steam. The application of pad-thermosol dyeing relies on dry heat to swell the polyester fibres and allow dye molecules to diffuse into the polymer matrix.
Chemical Step
The process begins with the padding step, where the fabric is immersed in a dye bath containing disperse dyes, wetting agents and antimigrant chemicals. It then passes through squeeze rollers to remove excess liquor before entering a pre-dryer. This pre-drying phase is critical to prevent the dye from migrating to the fabric surface as the water evaporates.
Temperature Control
Once dry, the fabric enters the thermosol oven, where it is exposed to temperatures between two hundred and two hundred and twenty degrees Celsius for thirty to sixty seconds. At this high temperature, both the polyester fibre and the disperse dye undergo a physical transition, allowing the dye to dissolve directly into the fibre. Precise temperature control is necessary because even small changes can cause noticeable variations in the final shade of the fabric.
Production Application
After fixation, the fabric is washed and rinsed to remove any unfixed dye or chemical residues on the surface. This final wash ensures high wash and rub fastness of the dyed fabric. The process is used for cotton-polyester blends because the polyester is dyed during this continuous stage.
