Pressure Device
A specialized component that utilizes compressed air to apply a consistent resistive force to an individual yarn end. Installation of a pneumatic creel tensioner happens at the exit point of each package on a warping creel to maintain uniform delivery. By using air pressure, the system can adjust the tension of hundreds of ends simultaneously from a central control panel.
Adjustment Mechanism
Internal diaphragms or pistons convert the air pressure into a clamping force on two discs through which the yarn passes. The pneumatic creel tensioner eliminates the need for manual weight adjustment on every single position. This centralization reduces the risk of operator error and ensures that the tension profile across the entire warp sheet remains identical.
Vibration Dampening
High speed unwinding creates pulses in the yarn that can lead to tension spikes. The air cushion within a pneumatic creel tensioner acts as a natural shock absorber to smooth out these fluctuations. This dampening effect is particularly beneficial when running fine count yarns that are sensitive to sudden mechanical shocks.
System Boundary
Contamination of the air supply with oil or water can lead to erratic behavior or clogging of the valves. Every pneumatic creel tensioner requires clean, dry air to function within its specified tolerance range. If the air pressure drops below a certain threshold, the tensioners may fail to close properly, leading to loose ends and potential machine stoppages.
Maintenance of the air system prevents production delays.
