Nozzle Variable
Operational setting on an air-jet spinning or weaving machine coordinates the duration and the start point of the air blast used to extend the yarn. The stretch nozzle timing determines how long the auxiliary nozzles remain open to maintain the tension of the weft as it travels through the shed. Correct calibration prevents the yarn from buckling or trailing, which would otherwise result in fabric defects.
Trigger Mechanism
Electronic controllers trigger the valves based on the angular position of the main shaft of the loom. If the stretch nozzle timing is too late, the yarn loses momentum and fails to reach the far side of the fabric. Conversely, air is wasted and the yarn may be damaged by excessive force if the timing is too early or the duration is too long.
Quality Monitoring
Technicians use stroboscopic lights or high-speed sensors to monitor the flight of the yarn across the loom. Adjustments to the stretch nozzle timing are made in real-time to account for changes in yarn hairiness or weight. Maintaining the correct window for each nozzle ensures a clean insertion even at the highest production speeds.
Sequence Optimization
Stable timing leads to fewer machine stoppages and higher first-quality yields.
