Sensor Protection
Isolation devices protect sensitive pressure sensors from corrosive or high-temperature process fluids by utilizing a flexible barrier. In textile dyeing machinery, a diaphragm seal prevents the viscous dye solutions or chemical additives from entering and clogging the internal mechanism of the pressure transmitter. This barrier transmits the pressure of the fluid through an internal fill fluid to the sensing element, ensuring accurate readings while keeping the transmitter isolated from harsh chemicals.
Pressure Transmission
The flexible membrane deforms under the force of the process fluid, which transfers the pressure to the internal instrument. When dye solutions circulate at high pressure, the diaphragm seal maintains a secure barrier that prevents any fluid bypass. This mechanical movement must be highly responsive to capture small changes in the system pressure without introducing measurement lag.
Material Selection
Specialized metals or polymer coatings are selected for the membrane based on the acidity and temperature of the textile treatment baths. Stainless steel, titanium, or hastelloy membranes withstand the corrosive salts and acids used in reactive dyeing. If the chemical compatibility is incorrect, the membrane will corrode, leading to leakage of the fill fluid and sensor failure.
Temperature Limitation
High temperatures cause the internal fill fluid to expand, which introduces pressure measurement errors. This thermal expansion alters the position of the membrane, creating a false pressure offset that requires transmitter calibration.
