Mechanical Protection
Specialized chemical additives designed to prevent metal-to-metal contact under heavy loads represent the primary defense against wear in high-speed loom gears and knitting cylinder needles. The use of an extreme pressure lubricant is mandatory in modern weaving mills where machinery operates at high speeds and under high mechanical stresses. This fluid forming a protective chemical layer protects moving parts from friction and welding.
Lubrication Chemistry
Active sulfur and phosphorus compounds within the fluid react with metal surfaces at elevated temperatures. This reaction generates a low shear strength film that prevents direct metal contact even when the liquid oil is squeezed out by force. Consequently, the extreme pressure lubricant protects the steel components from galling and seizing.
Machine Maintenance
Industrial knitting frames running double jersey fabrics generate immense heat at the needle cams. Regular application of an extreme pressure lubricant to these cams reduces temperature spikes and needle breakage. This preventive measure extends the operational life of the needles and maintains fabric quality.
Chemical Compatibility
Textile finishing plants require lubricants that can be easily washed out during fabric scouring. When an extreme pressure lubricant gets onto the greige fabric, it must not cause permanent oil stains or resist subsequent dyeing. Emulsifiable formulations are preferred because they rinse out easily in hot water baths.
