Chemical Composition
Liquid dye preparation engineered for digital piezo printheads enables high-resolution direct printing on cellulosic apparel fabrics. A reactive ink formulation combines reactive dyes, co-solvents, humectants, and deionized water to match the exact fluidic needs of the printhead. This precise blend must maintain chemical stability and droplet consistency over long periods in the machine reservoirs.
It represents a highly specialized category of digital consumables designed to form covalent bonds with cotton and viscose fibers.
Viscosity Control
Humectants are added to the ink to prevent the liquid from drying out and crusting at the nozzle openings during idle times. High-purity glycol or glycerol compounds keep the ink fluid and ready for ejection without altering its flow behavior. This anti-clogging property is critical for maintaining uninterrupted production runs.
Fixation Process
Steam or dry heat activation is required to initiate the chemical reaction between the printed dye and the fiber substrate. Pretreatment of the fabric with sodium bicarbonate is necessary to create the alkaline conditions needed for covalent bonding. Following this fixation step, the fabric is washed to remove any unreacted colorant.
Stability Requirement
Filtration steps during ink manufacture remove any particles larger than one micrometer to prevent nozzle blockage. This rigorous purification prevents physical defects and extends the working life of the expensive piezo printing heads. Consistent filtration ensures trouble-free performance in high-speed industrial printing plants.
