Roll Geometry
Convex curvature applied to the surface of a flexible squeezing cylinder ensures uniform liquid extraction across the entire width of a running fabric. This elastomeric roll crowned profile compensates for the mechanical bending that occurs when high pressure is applied to the ends of the roll shaft. It prevents the center of the roll from bowing away, which would leave the middle of the fabric wetter than the edges.
Pressure Equalization
Heavy load application on the roll ends causes the metal core to deflect. The thicker rubber center of the crowned roll compresses more than the ends, distributing the squeezing force evenly across the fabric face. This balance is critical to prevent shading differences from center to edge during the padding of dyes and finishing chemicals.
Fabric Extraction
Squeezing excess water from woven and knitted goods before they enter the drying oven reduces energy consumption. An even moisture profile across the fabric width prevents uneven drying, which can cause fabric distortion and localized over-curing of resin finishes. It also ensures consistent chemical add-on during the application of softeners or water repellents.
Mechanical Limit
High speeds generate internal heat that degrades the rubber structure. Exceeding the recommended nip pressure causes permanent distortion of the crowned shape.
