Sensing Conduit
A specialized transport channel fitted with array cameras and intense lighting monitors the continuous stream of blown textile fibers. Inside this high speed optical duct, cotton fibers are propelled pneumatically past electronic sensors at speeds exceeding twenty meters per second. This rapid scanning allows the sorting system to analyze every fiber in real time for impurities and contaminants.
Operational Flow
Turbulent air currents suspend the loose fibers as they pass through the detection zone of the sorting machinery. In this environment, the high speed optical duct provides a clean, unobstructed view for the high-speed cameras positioned on both sides of the channel. The constant airflow keeps the viewing windows free from dust and fiber fly, which prevents false triggers during operation.
Extraction Efficiency
When the optical system detects a defect, it triggers rapid-action compressed air valves located further down the transport channel. The high speed optical duct must be designed with precise dimensions so that the distance between the cameras and the air nozzles matches the travel time of the contaminated fiber clump. This coordination ensures that the defect is removed with minimal loss of good fibers.
Maintenance Need
Frequent cleaning of the internal glass surfaces prevents dust accumulation from degrading the accuracy of the optical sensors.
