Processing Range
Continuous industrial machinery ranges dye and chemically fix open-width cellulosic fabrics using sequential immersion, expression and direct steam fixation. The pad-steam line integrates chemical padder units, rapid-entry steam chambers, sequential washing cascades and final drying cylinder sets into a synchronized production installation. The functional boundary of this equipment covers continuous dye application and reduction fixing on woven fabrics, terminating where discontinuous batch exhaust vessels or high-temperature dry thermofixation curing ranges take over.
Thermal Fixation
Processing begins at the chemical mangle where desized, scoured and bleached cotton yardage is impregnated with dyestuffs and auxiliary reduction chemicals. The moving fabric web enters the steam chamber through a liquid seal or narrow steam lock to exclude ambient air. Inside the continuous pad-steam line, saturated steam at one hundred to one hundred and four degrees Celsius provides moisture and thermal energy.
Rapid condensation heats the fabric instantly, activating sodium hydrosulfite and sodium hydroxide to dissolve vat dyes into their leuco soluble form for cellular penetration. Steaming residence times range between thirty and ninety seconds depending on fabric weight. Precise temperature control prevents dyestuff decomposition and localized steam drying.
Moisture Envelope
Maintaining a saturated steam atmosphere inside the chamber prevents evaporation from the wet fabric surface. Any dry air ingress causes premature water loss, dyestuff precipitation and severe edge unlevelness. The pad-steam line incorporates water roof heaters, condensation collection troughs and steam injection manifolds to maintain relative humidity at one hundred percent.
Processed fabric exits directly into sequential wash boxes containing oxidizing, neutralizing and soaping baths to clear unfixed chemicals.
Quality Checkpoint
Woven cotton yardage produced on continuous ranges must demonstrate consistent visual color yield and equal fastness from the first meter to the final roll. Technicians monitor the pad-steam line for roller tension variations, steam seal integrity and oxidation wash box pH levels. Fabric lots exhibiting side-to-side color variation or poor wet crocking ratings are quarantined for processing remediation.
