Processing Speed Dynamics
Kinematic monitoring of moving webs during continuous textile wet processing ensures uniform chemical application and drying. The fabric velocity represents the speed at which the textile material travels through a treatment machine such as a washing unit or a tenter frame. It governs the dwell time of the fabric in each chemical or heat zone.
This speed must be balanced against temperature to achieve consistent results.
Tension Control Mechanisms
Synchronizing drive motors across different sections of a continuous finishing line prevents fabric distortion and stretching. Sensors measure the fabric velocity at multiple points to adjust the speed of individual rollers, keeping the fabric under uniform tension. If the speed of one section is misaligned, the fabric may sag or experience excessive tension, leading to narrow fabric width or warp yarn elongation.
Dwell Time Calculations
Heat setting of synthetic fibers requires a precise exposure duration at high temperatures to lock the crystalline structure of the polymer. The fabric velocity determines this duration, as a slower speed increases the heat exposure while a faster speed may result in incomplete stabilization. Technicians calculate the optimum velocity by dividing the length of the heating chamber by the required exposure time.
Continuous Output Verification
Continuous flow ranges use digital encoders to log the speed throughout each production run. Comparing this log against the batch recipe confirms that the fabric received uniform treatment from the beginning to the end of the roll.
