Flow Calculation
Fluid force measurement uses the difference in pressure between the wide entrance of a tapered tube and its narrow throat to calculate the velocity of the passing liquid. Dyehouse automation relies on the venturi pressure differential to measure and regulate the flow of dye liquor through the fabric nozzle. This principle provides a reliable, non-moving method for monitoring the flow of chemicals and water.
Mechanical System
During the circulation phase, the liquid speeds up as it enters the restricted throat, causing the local static pressure to drop. Transducers measure the difference in pressure between these two zones to determine the flow rate. This measurement helps adjust pump speed.
Pressure Boundary
Standard installations require the pressure drop to stay within a range of ten to fifty kilopascals to maintain accuracy without excessive energy loss. If the pressure difference falls too low, the signal becomes noisy and the controller cannot maintain correct flow. When the pressure drop is too high, it signifies a clogged nozzle.
Machine Efficiency
Precise flow control ensures that the fabric strand moves smoothly through the nozzle without snagging or slipping. This prevents fabric rope blockages and maintains consistent cycle times. In turn, the mill achieves more reproducible dyeing results.
