Finishing Machinery
Continuous wet processing systems are designed for the high-volume application and fixation of dyestuffs on cellulosic fabrics. Operating a pad-steam range allows textile mills to achieve uniform colouration on woven cotton fabrics through a continuous sequence of chemical application and steam fixation. This setup is suited for large production runs where batch-to-batch consistency is required.
Operational Mechanism
Fabric passes through a padder to receive dye liquor before entering a heavy duty steamer. The pad-steam range utilizes saturated, air-free steam to swell the cellulose fibres and accelerate the diffusion of the dye into the polymer matrix. After steaming, the fabric goes through consecutive wash boxes to remove unfixed chemicals.
Process Parameter
Steam temperature and moisture level must be monitored continuously to prevent shade variation along the length of the run. A functional pad-steam range requires precise control over the tension of the fabric to avoid stretching or creasing during the high-speed transfer. Water supply and chemical concentration must also be replenished at a constant rate.
Production Output
Color fastness and shading accuracy are checked systematically at the exit of the range. The pad-steam range delivers efficient throughput compared to batch dyeing methods, reducing water and energy consumption per linear meter of fabric. Consistency in the steam dwell time ensures that the entire batch matches the approved lab dip.
